Anonymous asked: Hello, I would like to know about the 2012 fashion show and when it will take place?
Hi,
I’m not exactly sure about this year’s show because I’m no longer a student at Meredith. I saw that there will be a short show at tomorrow’s Celebrating Student Achievement Day some time between 11 am and 1:30 pm in the courtyard outside of the dining hall, but I’m not sure if it’s related to the actual fashion show or not. Other than that, I can’t find any information. Every year is different depending on how the graduation seniors want to present their final projects. Sorry I couldn’t be any more help :-/.
I’m sitting here putting together my thesis presentation about Road to the Runway and realized I have yet to write a concluding post. How rude of me! I hope that everyone enjoyed the behind-the-scenes photos from the show (don’t forget to check out http://www.rodneyboles.com/cityscape and http://www.flickr.com/photos/floriopics/sets/72157626515820212/ for awesome runway pics!). It was a great night and I was glad to be a part of it.
Mainly I want to say that I hope the whole blog was enjoyed! My intent was to show everyone the hard work the designers put into creating the fashion show and all the clothes to go in it. After witnessing everything for the past few months, I have a new respect for the entire process! I hope the blog gave everyone a little insight into what it takes to put on this kind of production and, as a result, made the show more meaningful. Overall, I hope it was as fun for you as it was for me!
Congratulations to the designers on a job well done (and GRADUATION)! The show was amazing! And thanks for letting me tag along and bother you for pictures and videos. Thank you to the readers for coming along on the journey and supporting these awesome 11 ladies! Since this is the last day of classes, I think it’s appropriate to say: happy soon-to-be summer, everybody!!

While you’re waiting for the backstage pictures to be posted, how about helping me out with my thesis research? This blog is part of my project and I need to collect data to determine how well Road to the Runway marketed the fashion show. It would be a HUGE help if you would fill out this short 9 question survey (unless you filled one out at the show). I had a great number of responses from the show, but I would love to have some from people who didn’t attend as well as people who didn’t fill one out on Saturday. The blog was so much fun to keep but it’s also a very important part of my thesis, so I would really appreciate your help! Thank you! (link below)

Saturday was quite a day! The weather provided a good bit of drama. As storms and tornadoes touched down in the Raleigh area, models were getting their hair and make up done and the designers were busy putting the last touches on their clothes… all in a room with walls of glass. Not so safe. The weather worsened as tornadoes hit downtown and caused power outages throughout the city, including the Captrust building. Everyone was ushered down to the basement of the building, which meant walking down and back up over 15 flights of stairs. Because the elevators were out, and a few hundred people were expected, the show almost had to be canceled. Luckily, with an hour to spare power returned to the building. The show went on and was a huge success! Over 350 people came to show their support! It was such a fun night. Congratulations to everyone involved! If you weren’t able to attend, make sure to visit http://www.rodneyboles.com/cityscape and http://www.flickr.com/photos/floriopics/sets/72157626515820212/ to see runway photos by Rodney Boles and Chris Florio, respectively. Check the blog again soon for some back stage pictures!
Today is the day, folks! The past couple of days have been full of setting up chairs, lights, sound, curtains, and more. The team has put in tons of work to get the room ready for tonight, but there’s still more to do. The designers will be setting up all afternoon and getting their collections ready by organizing, ironing, and steaming everything. Once the models come, it’ll be time for hair and makeup. And when 7:00 rolls around, it’s show time! The designers will finally get to see their clothes go down the runway. Don’t miss the chance to see all of the hard work come together! It’s going to be a fun night, and we can’t wait to see you there!
7pm, 15th floor of Captrust Building, Raleigh, NC, $10
P.S. Check back after the show (and maybe during) for pictures
